Sam's Far West Coast
FISHING TOURS
Fowlers Bay, Far West Coast, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia

Movie Time

Check out some of these wild fishing video snippets created by the team from Bentstick Productions. This footage has been accumulated over many years - both under the old and new ownership. We'd like to thank all of the people in the footage, especially the anglers who put in so much "hard work" for the camera!

Crank up the sound, kick back and enjoy!

PLEASE NOTE

  • Popups must be allowed to view the video shorts.
  • All WMV clips should play fine with Windows Media Player.
  • Clips are in streaming format and ~should~ still play on slower connections.

Kranky King

Format [WMV 256k] : Time [4m:18s] : Size [8.1Mb @ 320x240]

NEW: A well conducted fight on a good size king determined to get free. Combined appropriately with a tension building original soundtrack.

Kingfish are likely targets from early December until mid-May. They are taken on fresh fillets, live baits and trolled lures.

West Coast Mulloway

Format [WMV 256k] : Time [3m:13s] : Size [6.0Mb @ 320x240]

This clip was created as a bit of fun to highlight the mulloway fishing option we enjoy when the boat is no go.

The far west coast is considered the prime location in Australia for the mulloway and we can do dedicated tours - using our accommodation as a base - to chase them.

Snazzy Snapper

Format [WMV 256k] : Time [3m:37s] : Size [6.9Mb @ 320x240]

A snapshot of the snapper catch we often see on our tours. Combined with a mild guitar background soundtrack, this clip makes for a lazy 3 minutes...

Gregarious groper

Format [WMV 256k] : Time [3m:12s] : Size [5.9Mb @ 320x240]

This segment displays the antics of a team of anglers who quite obviously enjoyed themselves on one of our trips while they tackled giant groper.

Groper can usually be found anytime but calmer seas during autumn offer more opportunities to search for them.

Ballistic bluefin

Format [WMV 256k] : Time [2m:51s] : Size [5.3Mb @ 320x240]

A collage of video clips taken while the bluefin tuna were in season. Shows some of the fun from the fiesty little speedsters to the mayhem of the brutes.

Tuna are usually available from early December until late March. Sizes vary from 6kg pocket rockets up to 30kg freight trains.

Slammin' samsons

Format [WMV 256k] : Time [3m:23s] : Size [6.4Mb @ 320x240]

This clip highlights some of the monster samsons taken with Sam and gives a clue as to why they are called samsons!

Samsons are easy to catch. You only need the right spot and the right bait... The stamina required to bring them up is an entirely different matter!

Krazy kingfish #1

Format [WMV 256k] : Time [2m:53s] : Size [5.4Mb @ 320x240]

When a big west coast king latches onto you, you just don't know how it'll react. These giants of the deep are going to test out you and your gear.

Kingfish are typically a summer species and vary in size from 3kg rapacious rats to 30kg+ marauding monsters!

Krazy kingfish #2

Format [WMV 256k] : Time [2m:53s] : Size [8.7Mb @ 320x240]

This second clip of Krazy kingfish shows a couple of giants taken by Steve Wade & Shane Murton (both of Bentstick Productions). Coupled with a wild soundtrack this one is worth the bandwidth!

Kingfish the size that Shane catches at the end of this clip, whilst not rare, are a super bonus and put on a big fight in deep water.
