Osprey - The boat

Boat fishing here is a lottery indeed, and a rich one. There is almost always a prize for every entry! We'd love a dollar for every angler that has said, "this is my first" or "this is my biggest". With waters that often don't see people for months at a time, the Fowlers Bay region is unique.

We use a 7.2 metre surveyed vessel, especially built by David Young, arguably the best boat builder in South Australia. She is powered by twin 90hp 4 stroke engines. Built to specification for this area, Osprey is a very stable single hull vessel with a beam of 3 metres.

Osprey is fully equipped with UHF and VHF radios, lifejackets, EPIRB and self-inflating raft. She also has a full colour sounder, GPS and lot's of "gadgets" to make your trips out even more enjoyable.

There's plenty of room for 7 people plus the skipper to fish in comfort. You can be assured that you'll not be sitting too long without catching your fish. We'll keep on chasing until we get the hookups you're looking for. Our reputation is your guarantee.

We do everything from trolling for the torpedoes of the sea, the southern bluefin tuna, to bottom bouncing for snapper, nannygai and morwong. Not enough? What about huge samson fish, giant groper, marauding kingfish and XOS salmon. Snook, barracouta, harlequins, whiting, trevally and sharks are in amongst the catch too.

Like all fishing, some species are seasonal, just like the southern right whales that pass through here during the winter months and the southern bluefin tuna during summer. We do both summer and winter tours so a quick call is all you need to do for us to put you onto the right time and place for that trophy fish. You may even make the "Wall of Fame" at the shack where the smiles are often wider than the fish caught!

Please be aware that we may not be able to put to sea on any given day due to prevailing weather conditions that are totally beyond our control.

Weather plays the biggest part in selecting where we fish on any given day and no location or fishing style can be planned in advance. This is "the wild west" and safety must come first. Whichever way the decision is made, you'll see places and things very few get the opportunity to see and any of our special spots can hold surprises that even we sometimes wonder at. It's all part of the mystery and mayhem of Fowlers Bay - anything could happen!
